  Learn to Square Dance   Class on Thursdays at 7:30 PM. Starting 23-SEP-2010 in Scott Hall

We host one or two Mainstream & Plus dances each month on a Saturday night from October to May. We alternate Squares and Rounds (2+2). Check out our current year calendar for details.

The next dance will be an EZMS level dance at the First Parish Church, 340 Clapboardtree St, Westwood on Friday, 24-SEP-2010 with Bob Butler calling and Harriett Clarke cueing. This is a Tri-club dance co-sponsored by the Square Riggers, the Great Plain Squares, and the Fairs 'n Squares.

The following FnS dance will be an alternating MS/PLUS level dance in Ellison Hall, Framingham on Saturday, 16-OCT-2010 with Jim Schell calling and Birgit Maguire cueing.

Our dances are generally located in Ellison Hall, or Scott Hall. These locations are near each other, just off of Edgell Road, 1/4 mile North of Route 9 in Framingham Centre. See our maps page

The Fairs 'n Squares invites interested newcomers to join our square dances for new beginners on Thursdays, (7:30 to 9:00 PM). This class will introduce you to the Basic and Mainstream level of dancing. Dancers ready for higher level dancing can stay for a Mainstream/Plus workshop starting at 9 PM. Jo Yakimowski invites interested newcomers to join her Choreographed Ballroom Dance classes staring 20-SEP-2010 and continuing on Mondays through May-2011. Caller Steve Parks will lead a square dance demonstration by members of the Fairs 'n Squares. We will introduce and demonstrate Modern Western Square Dancing. The audience members will have the option of learning simple square dances. Refreshments provided by TRADER JOE'S!

You can skip the dinner and just come for the dance Ring in the New Year with friends at our MS/PL dance with Jay Silva calling and Harriett Clarke cueing. This is a wonderful way to celebrate the New Year.

FNS Scholarship for Framingham area student

New applications being accepted through April 2010.

The FnS will provides a $1,000 per year for up to four years to a worthy area student. Our current award student is Miss Tamara Khudaniri who graduated Keefe Tech in May, 2006. She has been attending the Wentworth Institute in Boston, majoring in computer technology.

In spring-2010, the Fairs 'n Squares will select a new student to receive this honor. If you are interested in becoming a candidate for this scholarship, contact your high school advisor for an application, or write to the Fairs 'n Squares Scholarship Committee at PO Box 177, Framingham, MA 01704-0177 and request an application.

All dancers are welcome to support this scholarship. The Fairs 'n Squares accepts tax deductable donations to the scholarship fund. To support the scholarship just send your donation check to the Fairs 'n Squares Scholarship Fund, PO Box 177, Framingham, MA 01704-0177. On March 27, 2010 we will select raffle winners for each of these prizes:

  • A dinner/lunch for 2 at Longfellow's Wayside Inn
  • A gift certificate to Wole Foods Market
  • A gift certificate to Roche Bros.
  • A lovely scarf/shawl

To purchase raffle tickets, or for additional details on the scholarship fund e-mail our current Scholarship Fund chairpersons.

The Fairs 'n Squares expresses its gratitude to the many local businesses that supported our scholarship fund by donating items or services that we can raffle. Many items were provided in prior years such as restaurant meals, tax preparation services, and weekend accommodations.
